The Philadelphia Marathon 2009 got underway Sunday morning with great weather for runners. Runners started off at 21st Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway, and will make their way down to Old City in this 26.2 mile race on a beautiful fall morning. The crowds are out in full force to watch approximately 20,000 runners stream through the historic streets of Philadelpia.
The event also serves as a qualifying race for entry into the Boston Marathon for participants whose times meet age group bracketed standards.
