Authorities say three family members died in a mobile home park in Raleigh, bringing the confirmed death toll from severe storms in North Carolina to at least 16.
Wake County spokeswoman Sarah Willamson-Baker said search teams will continue to check heavily damaged areas of the county Sunday. It’s a task taken up by volunteers and authorities in more than a dozen counties across North Carolina as cleanup beings from the swarm of tornadoes that raked the state Saturday.
Ten people have been confirmed dead in Bertie County, and a death also was confirmed in Cumberland County. The storm system has left 37 people dead since it brought tornadoes to Oklahoma on Thursday.
