The unsolved 2008 murder of real estate agent Lindsay Buziak received North American attention tonight when American news program Dateline NBC aired a one-hour special on the local case.

For the first time ever, Buziak’s boyfriend at the time, Jason Zailo, who found the 24-year-old stabbed in the upstairs bedroom of a house she was showing in Gordon Head, talked publicly.

“I want people to know that I love Lindsay and I think about her every day,” Zailo told Dateline correspondent Josh Mankiewicz. “I want this case solved as fast as possible … I had nothing to do with it.”

Buziak was 24 when she was stabbed to death at a Gordon Head home, where she had been lured by a man and a woman claiming to be prospective buyers. Saanich police believe the pair to be contract killers, but have not been able to determine why she was targeted.

Jeff Buziak, Lindsay’s father, has expressed frustration that the case remains unsolved. He said last month that he and a private investigator, along with others, have come up with five suspects, and passed their information to police.

The local tip line for the case is 250-475-4356, and a North American tip line has been added at 1-888-980-1919.

Information can also be given at tips@saanichpolice.ca.

The Lindsay Buziak episode is one of two segments scheduled for Dateline NBC from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
