The New England Patriots have now pulled the trigger on a deal that nets them former Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Chad Ochocinco.
The only thing serial tweeter Ochocinco has offered this evening is: “God is so Good”
Ochocinco and Patriots coach Bill Belichick might seem like an odd couple, but they’ve expressed overwhelming mutual respect in prior matchups and when Belichick has coached him at Pro Bowls.
The Patriots have unending faith in the stability of their own locker room. With any other team, the immediate reaction to bringing in Haynesworth and Ochocinco on the same day would be something like, “Disaster is imminent.” With the Patriots and Bill Belichick, though, the immediate reaction is to fear that he’ll turn both guys back into Pro Bowlers and dominate the NFL forever.
A six-time Pro Bowler, Ochocinco is Cincinnati’s all-time leader in receptions (751) receiving yards (10,783) and TD catches (66). However after six consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons (2002-07), he’s only surpassed the plateau once in the past three years. His numbers dipped to 67-831-4 in 2010 when he played in 14 games.
