EL DORADO, Kan. — The case against the man accused of killing a Kansas college student who led a double life as an online porn model will be made public Tuesday as prosecutors try to send him to trial for the crime.
Israel Mireles is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in Emily Sander’s death. His preliminary hearing is Tuesday morning.
Sander, 18, was a Butler Community College student leading a secret life as an Internet porn model named Zoey Zane when she disappeared Nov. 23, 2007. She was last seen leaving an El Dorado bar with Mireles.
Her body was found six days later. At the time, police said her double life had nothing to do with her disappearance.
Mireles was arrested in Mexico in 2007 and extradited to the U.S.
If the judge decides to take the case to trial, Mireles will enter a plea.
An attorney for Mireles didn’t immediately return a call for comment.
