UPDATE: In an interview airing tomorrow, Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles tells talk show host Ellen Degeneres that the pregnancy rumors are “not true,” TMZ is reporting.
Us Weekly’s source claims the pregnancy came as a total surprise to Beyonce and her husband, rapper-mogul Jay-Z. The story, which appears on the cover of the magazine’s new issue, identifies a source close to the 29-year-old singer who claims that B is in her first trimester and was caught off guard by the unexpected pregnancy.
“B was shocked. She loves kids, but she wasn’t ready to be a mother just yet … She really wanted to get her album done and tour the world again,” the source said.
Even record executive Kevin Liles, who has known Jay-Z for years, is speaking out about the couple. “Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he’s always going to be,” he said. “I wish them the best.”
The Grammy-winning superstar previously announced that she would take a break in 2010 to focus on her personal life after years of relentlessly touring and recording, although she recently returned to the studio to start her next album.
“It’s definitely time to take a break, to recharge my batteries,” she told USA Today. “I’d like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I need to just live life, to be inspired by things again.” Representatives for the couple have not addressed the reports.
