Gwen Stefani, the 41-year-old singer made her generous donation to Save The Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund.
Her support comes as no surprise considering her well-documented love of Japan. She told US Magazine: ‘I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture. The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.
She’s also offering fans the chance to help. A charity auction is due to take place where lots on offer include the chance to meet Gwen herself, and the L.A.M.B designer will also be selling specially designed Harajuku Lovers T-shirts – with all of the proceeds going towards the Japanese relief effort.
According to Save The Children, an estimated 100,000 children have been displaced from their homes and more than 380,000 people evacuated across the country.
Last week, Sandra Bullock donated $1 million to the Red Cross.
