Consumers Energy reported at 11 a.m. that about 109,000 customers were without power this morning from the storm. Hardest hit was Kalamazoo County, with nearly 40,000 customers out, Calhoun had 9,650, Branch had 9,400 and Barry had 100.
The company asked its customers to report outages at 800-477-5050 or local law enforcement.
Officers are responding to calls of trees and power lines down. Residents are reminded to call 911 if you see or locate any downed power lines. DO NOT approach or touch them. Due to heavy call loads and dangerous conditions, residents are advised if you do not need to leave your home, stay indoors.
Some customers who have called Consumers automated reporting line said they were told power should be resorted by 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The first priority for crews is to clear downed power lines from the roadway.
