WARREN COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Butler and Warren counties tonight, Aug. 19 through 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
The tornado watch became effective at 6:15 p.m. today, according to the NWS Web site. Twenty-four other Ohio counties also are under a tornado watch.
“It doesn’t mean we’ve seen anything that looks like anything is producing a tornado,” said NWS meteorologist Steve Hrebenach.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for possible thunderstorms to hit the area, Hrebenach said.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected by 8 p.m. tonight, and it is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 71 degrees, the NWS said. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation with new rainfall amounts of less than 1/10 inch. Higher amounts of rainfall are expected in possible thunderstorms.
